米Googleは、"Native Client"(NaCl)と呼ばれる新しいWebブラウザ研究プロジェクトを発表した。x86アーキテクチャ向けにコンパイルしたコードを異なるOS上で実行できるという。

Modern PCs can execute billions of instructions per second, but today's web applications can access only a small fraction of this computational power. If web developers could use all of this power, just imagine the rich, dynamic experiences they could create. At Google we're always trying to make the web a better platform. That's why we're working on Native Client, a technology that aims to give web developers access to the full power of the client's CPU while maintaining the browser neutrality, OS portability and safety that people expect from web applications. Today, we're sharing our technology with the research and security communities in the hopes that they will help us make this technology more useful and more secure.

Apple today announced that iPhone and iPod touch users have downloaded more than 100 million applications from its groundbreaking new App Store since its launch on July 11, 2008. More than 3,000 applications are currently available on the App Store, with over 90 percent priced at less than $10 and more than 600 offered for free.

興味ある。米SeatleTimes紙によると、なぜ、多くの消費者、特に、プロフェッショナルがブラックベリー・ストームを選ぶのか・・・？！

一つ目の理由が会社の理由だ。コーポレート利用としてiPhone認めていないため。

米BusinessWeek誌の中で、ノキアのデザイン・イノベーションに関する興味深いインタビューを見つけた。ノキアのデザイン・ディレクターである Alastair Curtis氏によると、同社では大きなポートフォリオを持ち、グローバルで整合性・統一性を保てるよう取り組んでいる。また、ノキアでは社員の中に「Nokia DNA」(デザインDNA？！)のようなものが流れているという。グローバル大企業であるにもかかわらず、すべてをマネージしている姿を垣間見ることができる。。。

「Google、Mac用Google Earth APIプラグイン発表・・・」

Googleは、Mac用の「Google Earth API」プラグインを発表した。「Google Earth Plug-in」を利用することによって、(ユーザーが普段使っている)Webページ上で3Dデジタル映像を操作することができるという。

The Google Earth Plug-in and its JavaScript API let you embed Google Earth, a true 3D digital globe, into your web pages. Using the API you can draw markers and lines, drape images over the terrain, add 3D models, or load KML files, allowing you to build sophisticated 3D map applications. If you have an existing Maps API site, you can 3D-enable your page with as little as one line of code.
