米Google、セルフォン・アライアンス(Android)を発表へ

11月5日、正午過ぎより記者会見が開かれるようだ。
すでに、米Googleのセルフォン・アライアンスに関するリリースが公開されている。

内容は、世界同時に発表されている。
アンドロイド開発を発表するために、主要なテクノロジーとワイヤレス通信企業は広いアライアンスを結んだ。

Google、T-Mobile、HTC、クアルコム、モトローラ、およびその他のオープンなハンドセット・アライアンス、モバイル業界のリーダー的アライアンスなどがアンドロイド開発に参加した。

このアライアンスは、モバイル・デイバイスのイノベーションを推進し、消費者に入手可能なより素晴らしい「ユーザー・エクスペリエンス」を提供することを、共通のゴールとしている。(中略)

来週、同アライアンスは、ディベロッパーに対して、プラットフォームのアプリケーション開発のために、アクセス・ソフトウェア開発キットをリリースする予定だ。

Googleの会長兼CEOであるエリック・シュミット氏は次のように述べている。
今回のアライアンスによって、何十億にもおよぶ世界のモバイル・テクノロジー潜在性を開放するのに役立つだろう。モバイル産業におけるイノベーションを推し進めることによって、未来に向けた人々の情報アクセスや共有のあり方といった新しいコンピューティング環境を具現化することに役立つだろう。

今回の発表は、この数週間、プレスを賑わしてきた「Google Phone」よりも、野心的なものである。われわれのビジョンとは、何千もの異なる種類のモバイル携帯電話(モデル)をつくるためのプラットフォームを提供することだ。
